UPDATE 10:30 a.m. – Thousands of people in the North Thompson are still without power this morning because of a major transmission circuit failure.

About 3,300 BC Hydro customers in Blackpool, Clearwater, Vavenby, Avola, Blue River, and Valemount spent the night in the dark.

At one point, the outage was impacting close to 10,000 people, including some just north of Kamloops as well.

“With daylight crews are currently patrolling the affected line causing the outage to customers in Clearwater and surrounding communities,” BC Hydro said in a brief statement.

Power could be back around 3 p.m. in some places.
