Highway 1 between Revelstoke and Golden is closed in both directions due to an avalanche.
Drive BC says the situation is being assessed with no detour currently available.
Reports to NL News are that the avalanche is in the Canyon Hot Springs area, about 30 feet high by 100 feet wide.
Earlier in the day, Drive BC said crews were doing some planned avalanche control work in the Rogers Pass area, which was completed, just before 2 p.m.
Crews were also doing some avalanche control work in Mount Revelstoke National Park between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. this afternoon.
There is no indication when the highway could reopen, with the next update scheduled for 6 p.m. this evening.
