Kamloops Minor Baseball is calling it a “critical umpire shortage” ahead of a new season.
“They are at the point if they don’t get umpires, then games won’t happen,” Kamloops Senior Baseball Executive, Justin Holbrook, told NL Sports.
It seems the pandemic has hurt the umpire base in Kamloops, not just for baseball but soccer as well, with the call going out to get more people certified.
“It’s tough to get the volunteers out. There’s a shortage in every industry in Kamloops. The workforce is short,” added Holbrook.
Holbrook is doing his best to share the word, adding the Senior Baseball league in Kamloops should be okay this season.
Those interested in being certified can contact the KMBA Umpire-in-Chief at UIC@kamloopsminorbaseball.ca
