New and established business owners in Kamloops now have a better way to gather statistics on potential customers and how to find them.

Venture Kamloops Executive Director, Jim Anderson, said his organization has always tried to provide the best information but this new portal makes things better for both them and the people needing the information.

“The biggest thing is, we used to do this all manually and now we’re hooked up to a system that updates all this stuff in real time so it’s always the most current data and it coincided with the spring time which is when we need this for,” Anderson said, on the NL Morning News.

Among the things available to business owners is things like the population of Kamloops, the labour force, household incomes all the way to the average rent, vacancy rates, and the values of both commercial and residential permits building issued

While this information will help all types of businesses, Anderson says it is especially important for start up businesses.

“They really need to kind of find their market and know who’s out there and who they may be selling to and this type of data is critical for the decision making for all those types of businesses,” he said.
