Police in Merritt want you to be well-rested before heading out on a road trip.

It comes after a driver and their kitten suffered minor injuries in a single-vehicle crash on the Coquihalla last Friday, May 6.

RCMP say the driver had fallen asleep, went off the road, and rolled their vehicle multiple times. This driver was taken to the Nicola Valley Hospital in Merritt as a precaution.

“Inside the vehicle officers located a brave little kitten and transported her back to Merritt,” a statement from the RCMP said.

“An officer came into work on her day off, took the kitten to a local vet and had her assessed with only minor bruising. The kitten was then reunited with her owner.”
