Kamloops RCMP say a cyclist was taken to Royal Inland Hospital with serious injuries after a collision with a commercial vehicle on Highland Road this afternoon.
Police say they were called to Utility Access Road just off Highland Road around 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 11.
“All traffic was stopped in both directions while emergency responders attended,” spokesperson Const. Crystal Evelyn said, in a statement.
Traffic was completely stopped for about an hour to allow investigators to assess the scene. It reopened to single-lane, alternating traffic just around 3:50 p.m., and then fully reopened around 4:15 p.m.
“Three cyclists were riding down Highland [and] a yellow water truck was turning off Highland into a construction site half way down. The cyclist couldn’t stop in time and struck the side of the truck,” Irene Wende said, on twitter.
People who witnessed the crash or those who have any further information, including dashcam footage, are being told to contact the Kamloops RCMP.
