UPDATE June 20 – RCMP say one person was killed in a Friday afternoon crash between a semi and an SUV on the Coquihalla, just south of Kamloops.

Cpl. Mike Haskov of the BC Highway Patrol told NL News in an email that a minivan drove into rear of semi that was stopped on the highway around 2:35 in the afternoon.

Halskov says Kamloops RCMP are investigating the crash.

The Coquhalla was briefly closed in both directions as a result of the crash. Drive BC says northbound lanes were opened around 5 p.m., while the highway opened to all traffic around 8 p.m.
