Merritt RCMP say two men are in custody after a hand gun was waved outside Merritt Secondary School this afternoon.
The school was put on lockdown, according to the RCMP, who say a pair of suspects were “quickly” located and arrested outside the school.
“We recognize how terrifying an incident like this is for all involved, including parents,” Merritt RCMP Sgt. Josh Roda said, noting police were called to the school around 3:08 in the afternoon.
“Please be assured we put our children’s lives above all else and will do everything we can to keep them safe.”
Roda says both suspects are being held in custody pending further investigation.
If you have information about this incident and have not yet spoken to police, Roda says to reach out at 250-378-4262.
