UPDATE 8:30 p.m. – The BC Wildfire Service says it is responding to a new wildfire located about 32 kilometres northwest of Merritt that is moving at a moderate rate of spread.
As of about 4:50 p.m, the Skuhun Ridge fire is estimated to be 0.6 hectares in size.
The Wildfire Service says an Initial Attack crew – a small three to four person quick-response team – will remain on site overnight, with helicopters continuing to provide water support to crews on the ground.
Earlier in the day it said one Initial Attack crew and and one Unit crew – a 20 person team that specializes in things like installing hose and pump lines – were responding to this fire.
The Wildfire Service also said no structures are currently being threatened by this fire.
A cause of the fire is also not yet known.
