Update 4:00 p.m. – Drive BC says Highway 1 will remain closed in both directions overnight between Spences Bridge and Lytton due to a mudslide.
There is no detour available for the road closure assessments are in progress.
Drive BC says an update is expected at 10 a.m. Friday.
Original Post: A section of the Trans Canada Highway from Spences Bridge to Lytton will be closed for most of the day Thursday due to a mudslide.
Crews will be conducting a slope assessment of Highway 1 between the junctions with Highway 8 and Highway 12 today.
Drive BC initially reported flooding in the Ashcroft, Spences Bridge, and Lytton areas around 8:30 p.m., brought on by a thunderstorm that brought moderate to heavy rain between 7:10 p.m. and 7:50 p.m.

It is not clear when slope assessment will be completed, but Drive BC now says to expect an update at 4 p.m. Thursday.
