The organizers of BrewLoops will be holding what they call “an amped up garden party” next month.
Festival President Tyson Andrykew says the event will be held on Sept. 24 at 209 Royal Avenue – the location of the future Thompson Landing development.
It will feature a dozen local breweries, cideries and distilleries paired with another 15 from across the province, including the Neighbourhood Brewing from Penticton, Three Ranges from Valemount, and Slow Hand out of Vancouver.
“We are introducing spirits for the first time. We’ll have some local distilleries hopefully that will be able to make it out as well as those musical acts,” Andrykew said.
On the music side of things will be Juno-nominated Vancouver indie group Yukon Blonde as headliners. They will be joined by Aidan Knight of Victoria, Babe Corner and Doohickey Cubicle both from Vancouver, Fonk Beam from Kamloops, and The Dungbeatles from Kamloops and Merritt.
“It is going to be indie-rocky and folky music,” he said, noting there will also be food trucks and “wacky activities.”
“This is more of a focus on the musical side of things, which we are always trying to incorporate more, bring into a different sound into Kamloops.”
Tickets are $50 each – which includes $12 worth of drink tickets – with all proceeds going to support local organizations. You can buy it online here.
“From a fundraising perspective, we utilize the support of various organizations for additional volunteers during the events like Rotary and Western Canada Theatre and any sort of proceeds or things of that nature, they go back to those organizations and as well to paying for vendors and things of that nature,” Andrykew said.
Doors will open at 3 p.m., with the five hour event set to begin at 3:30 p.m.
