Kamloops RCMP say two schools on the North Shore were under a brief hold and secure due to loud fireworks.
Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says police were called to a report of gun-shot like bangs in the area of Southill Street and Sunnycrest Avenue around 1:45 Monday afternoon.
She says it prompted the Kamloops-Thompson School District to put both Brock Middle School and Kay Bingham Elementary School in a hold and secure out of an abundance of caution.
“While officers were responding to the area, they heard fireworks and received further reports of the loud bangs,” Evelyn said. “A person was located nearby and a number of fireworks were seized as part of the investigation.”
No identity on the person was released but Evelyn says the hold and secure was lifted soon after.
Anyone with information is asked to call Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2022-32489.
