
The City of Kamloops has released the official results of the 2022 civic elections, which showed no changes to the results from Saturday night.
Reid Hamer-Jackson will take over as mayor from Ken Christian after he got 7,298 votes, beating out three incumbent councillors – Dieter Dudy, Sadie Hunter, and Arjun Singh – as well as businessman Ray Dhaliwal.
Joining Hamer-Jackson around the council table are incumbent councillors Bill Sarai, Mike O’Reilly, and Dale Bass, former councillor Nancy Bepple, and newcomers Katie Neustaeter, Kelly Hall, Margot Middleton, and Stephen Karpuk.
The new city council will be sworn during the inaugural council meeting at the TRU Grand Hall on Tuesday, Nov. 1, which is open to the public.
There will also be two new faces around the Kamloops-Thompson School District table in Cole Hickson and Jo Kang, who join returning incumbents John O’Fee, Kathleen Karpuk, and Heather Grieve representing the City of Kamloops.
Shelley Sim, Rhonda Kershaw, Diane Jules, and Cara McKelvey were all acclaimed to the board representing the rural areas of SD73.
No changes as well to the Thompson-Nicola Regional District results, with six new directors joining two incumbents – David Laird (Area M) and Herb Graham (Area N) – who were both acclaimed to another term.
Newcomers Lee Onslow (Area B) and Jill Hayward (Area O) were also acclaimed, while Michael Grenier (Area J), Doug Haughton (Area L), and Lee Morris (Area P) are replacing directors who did not seek reelection.
Three other directors – Usoff Tsao (Area A), Jim Smith (Area E), and Tricia Thorpe (Area I) beat the incumbent directors – Carol Schaffer, Sally Watson, and Steven Rice – in their respective races.
Around the Kamloops area, official results are also in for the Village of Ashcroft, the District of Barriere, the Village of Cache Creek, the Village of Chase, the District of Clearwater, the District of Logan Lake, the Village of Lytton, the City of Merritt, the City of Salmon Arm, and the Resort Municipality of Sun Peaks.
