A few more details have been revealed by the RCMP about an incident Monday in Kamloops, which saw Emergency Reponse Teams brought in.
They say around 4 in the afternoon, Kamloops Mounties responded to reports of threats of violence being made by a man.
When officers arrived at the man’s home, which earlier reports suggested is on Pacific Way, the man came out with a weapon and began screaming obscenities at the Mounties.
After an hours-long negotiation, involving the Emergency Response Team, the man eventually starting seriously hurting himself inside the home.
The Mounties were able to eventually secure him, and transport him to hospital for treatment.
The Independent Investigations Office of BC, BC’s police watchdog, is now investigating whether the officer’s actions may have led to the man hurting himself.
