Kamloops RCMP say they are investigating after a man’s body was found in the water near Riverside Park this weekend.
Corporal Crystal Evelyn says police were called to the area of the park near the pickle ball courts around 2:20 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, after a body was seen in the water about 30 to 40 feet from shore.
In a release, she says the RCMP’s Forensic Identification Services (FIS) Unit used a drone to confirm there was a body, and brought it to shore with help from Kamloops Fire and Rescue.
“Based on the initial investigation, the person appears to have been in the water for some time,” she said. “Police are working on confirming identification and contacting next of kin.”
Evelyn says the RCMP and the BC Coroners Service are investigating to determine a cause of death or if criminality is suspected.
She is asking anyone who might have information to contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2022-38930.
