RCMP say a 33-year-old Kamloops man who was wanted on warrants out of Quesnel was arrested in the Tournament Capital.
Mounties say the arrest took place nearly two weeks ago, on Nov. 10, after they were told about the presence of a wanted man in the area of Notre Dame Drive and Dalhousie Drive in Kamloops.
In a statement, they say the man was arrested without incident.
“This is a great example of Kamloops frontline officers, the Police Dog Service, Crime Reduction, and Targeted Enforcement units (TEU), and probation working together to locate and apprehend an offender with a history of firearms and serious offences,” Sgt. Todd Woon of the Kamloops RCMP TEU, said.
“The professionalism of all those involved led to the accused being isolated from the public in a high traffic area and safely taken into custody.”
Police say Eric Joseph Heidemann was remanded into custody, with another court appearance scheduled next Tuesday, Nov. 29.
RCMP say he had warrants for breaching his release orders, in connection to a series of charges, including forcible confinement, break-and-enter with intent, disguising a face with intent, aggravated assault, possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon and ammunition, among others.
