While all eyes will be on Connor Bedard, another Connor will be looking to make a good impression at the CHL Top Prospects Game in Langley tonight.
Blazers forward Connor Levis will suit up for Team Red as an injury replacement for Vancouver Giants forward Samuel Honzek.
“It’s going to be a competitive game and it means a lot to me,” Levis said in a pre-game scrum. “I’m very fortunate to be invited here and really looking forward to playing against some of the best players in the CHL and see what I can do against them.”
“I’m from Vancouver so I got my trainers and skating coaches and my entire family is coming to the game so its going to be a really special moment for them.”
The six-foot-two Levis is also looking forward to catching up with Bedard, the consensus first overall pick in the 2023 NHL Draft.
“We played atom and peewee together and went to the Quebec tournament together so I’ve known him for a quite a long time,” Levis said. “We’re rooming here and he’s a really great guy and its pretty cool to see where we’ve come and we’re playing in this game together.”
Ranked 60th among North American skaters on NHL Central Scouting’s midterm rankings ahead of the 2023 NHL Draft, Levis has put up 55 points (11 goals and 24 assists) in 41 WHL games this season.
He is expected to play on a line with Riley Heidt of the Prince George Cougars and Denver Barkey of the London Knights.
“It’s always important to make sure you’re competing at your hardest,” Levis added.
“There are lots of great players. I know there are lots of scouts, there are lots of scouts at our [Blazers] games so as long as I’m playing hard and making sure I can do what I can focus on and what I can control, I think it’ll be a successful game.”
You can catch the CHL Top Prospects Game on TSN tonight with puck drop scheduled for 7 p.m.
