Interior Health has issued a drug alert for the Kamloops area warning of colourless crystals being sold on the streets as methamphetamine.
The health authority says the substance is actually sucrose (sugar) adding the test strips came back positive for fentanyl.
People are being warned about the risk of overdose, with IH saying people may experience drowsiness or loss of consciousness.
Drug users are being told to get their substances tested and to never use alone.
This drug alert will be in effect until Feb. 25.
