Rilen Kovacevic and Noah Boyko (2) scored for the Oil Kings who remain at the bottom of the WHL’s Western Conference with eight wins.
The Oil Kings tied the game twice at 1-1 in the first period and again at 2-2 early in the second but it was the Blazers who led 2-1 after the first and 5-3 after the second period.
Jakub Demek was scoreless as he made his long awaited Blazers debut against his former team. The six-foot-four Slovakian forward, who was acquired from the Oil Kings for four draft picks last November, was initially expected to make his debut at the end of January before it was pushed back by the Vegas Golden Knights.
Shea Van Olm who was also part of the Oil Kings WHL Championship team in 2021-22 missed Sunday’s game with an upper body injury.

Matthew Kieper turned aside 16 of 19 shots to pick up his fifth win with the Blazers. Monte Creek native Kolby Hay, who stopped 53 of 60 shots, was the far busier goaltender in the Edmonton net.
