April is Parkinson’s Awareness Month.
Imagine walking down the street, when you suddenly stop, unable to move your feet. Now imagine sitting down for dinner, afraid to pick up your food because your arm is trembling uncontrollably. How about having a conversation with a friend, and they just can’t seem to understand a word you’re saying?
Every day, approximately seventeen thousand five hundred British Columbians diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease deal with symptoms just like these. It’s more than a tremor.
April 11 is World Parkinson's Awareness Day, and to highlight this day, we wanted to share with you some of the many activities, events, and services available to the Parkinson's community.
At Parkinson Society British Columbia (PSBC), we believe every person touched by Parkinson's deserves to know that they are not alone in their journey. Our friendly and knowledgeable staff is committed to offering support, sharing reliable information, and raising funds for programs and research. We are grateful to be a part of a strong community united in our dedication to improving the lives of those affected by Parkinson's.
