Kamloops-North Thompson MLA Peter Milobar doesn’t think much of the current results of the referendum on proportional representation.
According to Elections BC, the Kamloops-South Thompson riding has returned just over 43 per cent of the ballots.
In Kamloops-North Thompson that number is 37 per cent.
For Milobar, it’s not the ideal situation.
“I think it speaks to the rush nature of the of this,” he said. “It would have been much better if it would have been like the two previous PR referendums, and held during a general election.”
Kamloops-South Thompson MLA Todd Stone echoed similar comments.
“The no side are folks who are happy to keep the current system,” Stone said. “[They’re] going to win the day at the end of this, but it will be very very narrow.”
The deadline to return your referendum ballots is 4:30 PM today.
Elections BC Spokesperson Rebecca Penz said they’re trying to release the final results before Christmas.
