The two Kamloops MLAs are waving a warning flag over the proposed replacement for the downtown BC Lottery Corporation headquarters building.
Kamloops South MLA Todd Stone says he is hearings rumblings the project is in trouble at worst or being scaled way back at best.
“I’ve been hearing that there’s significant concern within BC Lotteries as to whether or not the head office project, which was approved under our former government for the new build here in Kamloops, whether that project is still on track,” Stone says.
“I’m not suggesting that anyone’s told me that it’s dead, but there’s growing concerns that the government appears to be dragging its heels on the project.”
Milobar says he too is hearing the brakes are being applied to the project. He says Attorney General Dave Eby needs to provide assurances the building of a new BCLC headquarters in Kamloops is a go.
“I’ve asked him directly during estimates, we were on schedule, on pace, and with the same scope that was always planned for the BC Lotteries new build. He assured me in estimates, it all was answered that everything was a go and moving forward. And now we’re hearing these concerns.”
In July Eby told NL News it was all systems go for the estimated $50-million-dollar building.
