The managing director at the Kamloops Airport says he doesn’t anticipate concerns with changes coming to several Air Canada flights this summer.
Ed Ratuski says the he thinks airline’s Kamloops-to-Vancouver flight will continue to meet the needs of most travellers, as it will be flying larger planes slightly less often.
And he says there will be a focus on promoting the Kamloops-to-Toronto Air Canada Rouge flight. That service began last summer, and Ratuski told NL earlier this month it will be cut back this year because of a nation-wide shortage of planes, flying on every Thursday in July and August.
“With the non-stop service to Toronto, that’s one thing we’re really wanting to make local residents aware of, that that service will be available this summer, and to really search it out if they’re travelling out east to Toronto and beyond. One of the issues we want to work with Tourism Kamloops, Tourism Sun Peaks and other partners to make sure that route is successful and that it returns again next year.”
Ratuski says the airport talks with airlines regularly to make sure market needs are met.
