The NextRide bus tracking system has been well received in Kamloops and elsewhere.
That’s according to BC Transit Communications Manager Jonathon Dyck, who says it’s one of the many ways BC Transit is trying to improve service for riders.
“We’ve seen about 25,000 hits on that site a month on average in Kamloops alone,” he told NL. “We have seen a good uptake. We always to encourage more people to use that as part of their transit journey so that they get that reassurance of where their bus is at in real time.”
He says BC Transit also installed real-time arrival information signs at all three bus exchanges in the city last December.
“Technology is becoming a big part of the transit ride and we know that customers, that’s a big piece of what they want and this has been something that we’ve been asked for, for a long time,” Dyck said.
“We’re happy that it’s in Kamloops and five other systems right now. It’s coming to Victoria this summer and all the other conventional systems after that.”
The NextRide system launched in Kamloops last September.
