The Honour House Society says the opening of the new Honour Ranch in Ashcroft isn’t the end of their plans.
President Al DeGenova says he wants to see an Honour House set up in Ottawa and Halifax as well in the near future.
“When I see the amount of lives we’re losing right now, an Honour House is very important from coast to coast to coast, because [first responders] and their families need a place,” he said. “There have just been way too many, right up until days ago, that we lost a lot of people to suicide and Post Traumatic Stress.”
DeGenova says he wanted to see this Ashcroft Project finished first before thinking expansion.
“They all know they’re waiting,” DeGenova said. “Literally, from the emails and the calls, and that’s what drives me to have Honour Houses now in Ottawa and Halifax so that we are coast to coast to coast.”
The Honour Ranch is the society’s second facility in BC, joining the Honour House in New Westminster, which was established in 2010.
