With seven weeks to go in 2019, the city still has nearly half of its snow-clearing budget.
City of Kamloops streets manager Glen Farrow says about 60 per cent of the $1.9-million-dollar budget has been used so far this year.
“Last season was spectacular, really, from a snow-clearing perspective. Our real first initial snowfall wasn’t until right around Christmas. So November and early December was quite light, which helped for the 2018 budget.”
The snow removal budget was raised by $300,000 this year from $1.6 million in 2018.
The cost to clear snow last year came in slightly over budget because of heavy snow in the early months of the year.
