Warmer than expected weather conditions means it has been a slower than expected start to the ski season at Sun Peaks Resort.
Just over three weeks into the ski season at Sun Peaks Resort, and it’s been slower than expected, because of the weather.
However, Director of Marketing & Communications, Christina Antoniak says people are still coming to the resort despite the limited terrain.
“It’s still been fun for people to get back on skis and get their season started,” she said. “Lots of season pass holders coming up and folks that had pre-booked stays at the resort. Slower than normal, but still lots of people taking advantage of Sun Peaks being open and still have some terrain available.”
That said, Antoniak says Sun Peaks is faring better than several other B.C ski resorts due to poor conditions across the province.
“Weather is one of those things in our industry that is so completely out of our control. So we are staying positive and our crews are working really hard to make a really good product out there with what we have,” she said.
“So yeah, we’re definitely maintaining optimism for the rest of the season.”=
After a record 2018 season with over 400,000 skiers, warmer weather last winter meant that Sun Peaks narrowly missed that mark in winter 2019.
