The Executive Director of the Kamloops Central Business Improvement Association (KCBIA) is grateful that CAP Team members were able to demonstrate what they can do on the North Shore for the last two years.
Carl DeSantis says the North Shore BIA’s decision to cut ties with the CAP Team in no way undermines what they do downtown.
“They are the most recognizable part of our team. The North Shore – I certainly wish them well as they explore other solutions for their challenges,” said DeSantis.
“The CAP Team is out there supporting the downtown businesses in so many different ways. They are supporting the tourists, tourism, and the vulnerable population. We look forward to continuing with the CAP Team resources going forward.”
He says he’s still open to CAP Team members returning to the North Shore in the future, if that is the desire.
The Executive Director of the Kamloops Central B-I-A is disappointed that CAP Team members won’t be returning to the North Shore this summer.
“I don’t want to speculate on [NSBIA Executive Director] Jeremy’s [Heighton] behalf, but we are absolutely open to supporting our partners on the North Shore in any way we can,” noted DeSantis.
“Capacity is certainly the big piece of conversation, but if we’re able to do so, we’re pleased to do so.”
After being launched downtown, the CAP Team operated on the North Shore in 2018 and 2019 thanks for $25,000 grants from the city in each of those years.
