
BC Health Officials are announcing 14 new cases, for a total of 1,575 cases of COVID-19 in British Columbia. There were also three new deaths reported in the province bringing the total to 78.
That includes 149 cases in the Interior Health Region, an increase of three from yesterday.
It also now reports that there are a total of 61 confirmed cases related to the Mission Institution federal correctional centre.
“Fraser Health officials continue to work with Correction Services Canada to manage this outbreak,” says Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry. “There has been one death related to this outbreak. The BC Coroners Service is investigating.”
A total of 983 people who had tested positive for COVID-19 have recovered. There are also 120 people currently in B.C. that hospitalized, 56 in the intensive care unit.
There have been two new outbreaks in the last day: the Kootenay Street Village long-term care facility in the Interior Health region and an acute care unit at the Ridge Meadows Hospital in the Fraser Health region.
As well, the province says four facilities, where outbreaks had previously been declared over, have new cases. In total, there are now 26 long-term care and assisted-living facilities and one acute care unit with outbreaks.
