
The first outbreak at a long-term care home in B.C. outside of the Lower Mainland has now been reported, in the Interior Health region.
A staff member at the Kootenay Street Village care home in Cranbrook has tested positive for the virus. That staff member is now self-isolating at home according to the health authority.
Kootenay Street Village has has 36 beds, and it only first opened in December.
Interior Health says the risk is low of the virus spreading to other staff or residents of the care home.
As of this afternoon, there are 26 long-term care and assisted-living facilities and one acute care unit have outbreaks.
