Mounties have now confirmed that two people died in a crash on Sunday on the Trans-Canada Highway, east of Revelstoke.
The crash happened at about 4:15 p.m. between a Honda Accord and a semi truck.
Police say the Honda was going around a turn and crossed the centre line, before being hit by a semi coming from the other direction. Both the driver and the passenger in the Honda died at the scene. The semi-truck driver was not hurt in the crash, and Mounties say he provided dash cam footage for the investigation.
Further details on the two people killed was not immediately clear, other than the driver killed in the crash was a man.
Mounties add that weather and road conditions were ideal, and a cause for the crash is continuing to be investigated.
This was the third fatal crash of the weekend on southern Interior highways; there were two fatal motorcycle crashes on Highway 99 between Lillooet and Pemberton.
