
Through the first two months of 2021, there have been 900 cases of COVID-19 reported in the Kamloops Local Health Area, according to new data from the BC Centre for Disease Control.
Between Jan. 1, 2020, and Feb. 28, 2021, there have been a total of 1,246 confirmed cases in the area that includes the City of Kamloops as well as Chase, Sun Peaks, Barriere, Little Fort, Tobiano, Savona, and Logan Lake.
As of the end of 2020, there were just 346 cases in the area. Of the 900 cases in the first two months this year, 428 cases were reported in January while another 472 were reported in February.
In that same 14 month period, there were 191 cases in the Merritt area, 2,959 in the Kelowna area, 605 in the Vernon area, 243 in Salmon Arm, and 211 in Revelstoke.
Similarly, there were 459 cases in the Cariboo-Chilcotin (Williams Lake area), 102 in the 100 Mile area, 28 in the South Cariboo (Ashcroft/Cache Creek and Lytton areas), 22 in the Lillooet area, and nine cases in the North Thompson (Clearwater/Vavenby area).
The most recent weekly data shows 124 cases in the Kamloops-area between Feb. 21 and Feb. 27, after it dropped to 78 cases the week of Feb. 14 and Feb. 20. The current record is 161 cases during the week of Jan. 31 and Feb. 6.
