Kamloops RCMP say three men are facing robbery charges after what’s believed to be a targeted shooting on McGill Road last Friday morning.
Mounties were called to the 700-block of McGill Road near Thompson Rivers University around 7:41 in the morning on Sept. 16 to a report of shots fired.
A total of five people were arrested at “various locations” in the area, but RCMP now say that two people were later released after they were identified as victims.
“This investigation involved a high-risk situation and multiple suspects at a time of day when there was an abundance of people on their way to school and work,” Kamloops RCMP Inspector, Jeff Pelley, said, in a statement.
“Thanks to the fast response of multiple police units throughout the city and the assistance of the community in providing updates on the suspects’ locations, officers were able to make quick arrests and advance the investigation, leading to charge approvals and court appearances scheduled for today [Sept. 20].”
“As part of the investigation, officers located evidence to support a firearm was discharged during what is believed to be a targeted incident.”
Alexander James Zeballos, 32, of Anaconda; Kaleb Lawrence Conroy, 19, of Maple Ridge; and Dylan Glaser, 20, of Smithers are each facing robbery with a firearm charges.
Court records show that Conroy had no other criminal charges, while Glaser had some driving violations to his name. Zeballos, however, has multiple convictions and charges – all out of the Lower Mainland – dating back a decade.
“Thankfully no one was injured as a result of this very public and dangerous occurrence,” Pelley added.
“Investigations surrounding individuals who use violence and firearms continues to be a high and strategic priority for the Kamloops RCMP.”
