The Canadian Pacific Holiday Train will make its return to Kamloops on Dec. 16 after two years of virtual concerts in 2020 and 2021.
As is the case every year, the train is set to pull into the parking lot near Sandman Centre around 4:45 p.m. that day. It will also be making stops in Chase, Savona, and Ashcroft that Friday.
Musical performers in Kamloops will include MacKenzie Porter and Virginia to Vegas with the show set to run from 5 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
“I’m grateful to the CP team members who adapted during the COVID-19 pandemic to deliver two exceptional virtual Holiday Train shows and to all those who continued to donate while we kept community members safe,” Keith Creel, CP’s President and Chief Executive Officer, said, in a statement.
“The Holiday Train is all about families and communities coming together to celebrate the season and help those in need. We are excited to be back out on the rails and in our communities, taking these two beautiful trains across our network and sharing the joy that comes with gathering in the spirit of giving.”
There is no charge to attend, though people are being encouraged to bring cash or a non-perishable food donation with them for the Kamloops Food Bank. Back in 2019, the Kamloops Food Bank said it collected nearly 6,000 pounds of food and $50,000 in cash donations during the event.
CP says since it launched the Holiday Train in 1999, it has raised more than $21 million and collected 5 million pounds of food for community food banks across North America.
