Kamloops RCMP say charges are likely after a man was arrested following a July 31 shooting on Schubert Drive near Richmond Avenue that sent a woman to hospital with serious injuries.
Mounties say the unidentified man was arrested yesterday, August 17, after search warrants were executed at two locations on the North Shore.
“Although this incident is believed to be targeted, this kind of offence impacts the safety of a community; addressing such violence and advancing its corresponding investigations remains a priority for our detachment,” RCMP Superintendent Jeff Pelley, the Officer in Charge of the Kamloops RCMP Detachment said.
“Thankfully, with the diligent efforts of our investigators and support from the public, we have been able to identify and arrest a suspect.”
Pelley says the suspect was later released with a series of conditions and a court date “as per process.”
“Charge recommendations will be submitted as part of the consideration and approval procedures,” he added, noting that while the arrest of a suspect may bring comfort to some, the investigation is still ongoing.
People who have information related to the shooting being told to contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2023-27542.
