After coming off a 9-1 drubbing the night before, the Kamloops Blazers turned in a much better performance on Saturday.
However, a defensive mistake late in the game while on the power play would ultimately cost the Blazers a 4-3 loss at home to the Kelowna Rockets.
With rookie goaltender Logan Edmonstone making his first WHL start, the Blazers would rally in front of him early.
Less than 4 minutes in, Emmitt Finnie would notch his 17th of the season to give the Blazers the 1-0 lead.
Andrew Thompson would make it 2-0 with his 10th, before Tij Iginla would score to make it 2-1 Kamloops heading into dressing room after the 1st.
Kamloops would get that one back at 6:43 in the 2nd, with Nathan Behm notching his 12th of the season to make it 3-1.
Andrew Cristall would score to make it 3-2 for Kamloops after two periods of play.
The Rockets then equalized 8 minutes into the 3rd with Hiroki Gojsic’s 20th of his campaign to make it 3-3.
Then, with Kayden Sadhra-Kang in the box for checking from behind, and Kamloops on the power play, a defensive miscue saw the Blazers cough up the puck, allowing Tij Iginla to score his 2nd of the game short-handed to give the Rockets the eventual 4-3 victory.
Logan Edmonstone turned aside 36 of 40 shots in his first WHL start in the loss.
The Blazers are off until Friday, when they start a home and home against the Vancouver Giants in Langley.
Puck drop is at 7, with the pre-game on Radio NL starting at 6:30.
