A happy ending to the disappearance of a missing elderly woman from Kamloops from last week.
RCMP have confirmed 81-year old Dianne Freeman has been located safely.
Mounties say Freeman was discovered in her vehicle on an unspecified forest service road outside of Kamloops city limits sometime early Saturday evening, along with her dog “Banjo.”
Kamloops RCMP say Freeman was transported to hospital after she was discovered on the undisclosed stretch of roadway with the assistance of “Air 4,” an RCMP helicopter which was aiding in the search for her.
An online post attributed to her husband says she was missing for more than 48 hours, and — after being found — was treated for dehydration, but is otherwise doing fine.
She and her dog have since been reunited with their family.
Freeman and “Banjo” disappeared after driving from her home to a grocery store in north Kamloops late Thursday afternoon, and became the subject of a search when she and her dog did not make it back home later that day.
Her family at the time suggested it was very unusual for Freeman to not return home.
The circumstances as to how she ended up along a forest service road well into the weekend has not been made clear.
