The General Manager of the Douglas Lake Cattle company not happy with a recent court decision in Kamloops.
Justice Joel Groves ordered the public be granted access to Stoney and Minnie lakes, which may have been a precedent-setting decision.
“Its a pain in the ass operationally,” said Joe Gardiner on the Jim Harrison show this morning.
The company is considering an appeal of the decision which ordered the company to unlock the gate that kept the public from accessing Minnie and Stoney Lakes.
“Although we are allowed to keep the gate shut but not locked does result in equipment, buildings and other gates beyond there that are not locked that could be left open and mixing our cattle up,” added Gardiner.
Gardiner says there is also a security issue since parts of the ranch that are shut down for the winter can be accessed through the open gate.
