There were no injuries after a semi truck caught fire on the Trans Canada yesterday afternoon.
The highway was closed for a while as crews battled the blaze.
Kamloops Fire Platoon Captain Jim Gorman says the semi was carrying a load of ice cream.
“When crews arrived on scene, there was a substantial amount of fire,”he said. “They were unable to determine the cause at the scene when they arrived.”
Gorman says fire crews responded to the fire around 1:30 p.m. in the afternoon.
“They were there for about two and a half hours,” Gorman added. “The highway was closed for about a half hour to forty minutes to all traffic, then it opened to a single lane. They cleared the scene and left it for a tow truck and the RCMP to clear.”
Gorman also said he wasn’t sure whether the driver called in the fire, or if it was a passerby.
