The Buse Creek wildfire east of Kamloops is being held at 19 hectares.
The fire was spotted yesterday afternoon and fire officials don’t expect it to spread from its boundaries today.
Fire Information Officer Hannah Swift says there are 18 firefighters on site at the moment.
“So yesterday, we had the airtankers on site, and we had two belly tank helicopters bucketing the fire. Today you won’t see any aircraft assisting as they are not required,” Swift said. “But we do have those 18 firefighters on the ground just monitoring and putting out any hot spots that remain.”
None of the structures in the area were threatened, however a section of Dallas Drive was closed for some time yesterday.
Swift says it was a surface fire with moderate candling – which is when the fire moved into the trees and flared up because of the dry conditions.
The fire is believed to be human caused, and an investigation is ongoing.
