Environment Canada is predicting more seasonal temperatures in Kamloops next weekend for Halloween, with the high on Oct. 31 currently expected to be 11 C along with an overnight low of 5 C with cloudy skies.
Meteorologist Doug Lundquist says while the forecast could change slightly between now and then, Halloween weekend won’t be as cold as Election weekend.
“That will melt out. It will feel much more like fall again. Its a bit too far to lock it down but absolutely this crazy system will have passed us,” he told NL News.
“I don’t see us returning to this cold arctic snowy event. Thankfully for Election Day, the weather came out good. The fact its warming up for Halloween it might be a good news story there too.”
In fact, Lundquist says the Kamloops area should be back to more seasonal temperatures by Wednesday or Thursday.
As it stands, the high for Wednesday is 7 C with a 70 per cent chance of showers, while Thursday and Friday could see a 70 per cent chance of showers as well with a high of 9 C.
Earlier today, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry brought in a new public health order to limit gathering sizes in private homes to the number of people who live there plus six people.
“That means no Halloween parties,” she said. “This is not the time for the adults getting together having indoor parties and now there is an order in place to restrict this.”
Asked about trick or treating, Henry has on multiple occasions said that Halloween will look a lot different than years past because of COVID-19. Earlier this month, the BC CDC released updated guidelines on how to have a safe Halloween this year amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
