
B.C. health officials are reporting 706 new cases of COVID-19 today, including 213 in Interior Health.
There are 5,844 active cases in the province, a increase of 53 cases from yesterday’s update, with 1,504 of those cases in the Interior, down by 32 cases.
Of the active cases in the province, there are 291 people in hospital with COVID-19 (up by three) with 134 of those people in intensive care (down by three)
Fraser Health had the second most cases among health authorities Thursday with 203 (1,784 active), followed by Vancouver Coastal Health at 105 cases (1,051 active), Northern Health at 104 cases (857 active), and 81 cases in Island Health (638 active). There were no new cases reported in people who live outside of Canada, with ten such cases active.
There were four new deaths reported Thursday, three of which were in Fraser Health and one in Northern Health, taking the provincial total to 1,877 people.
An outbreak of COVID-19 at the Kamloops Seniors Village long-term care home remains at 19 cases – ten among residents and nine among staff, with one death connected to the outbreak, while an outbreak at The Hamlets at Westsyde remains at five cases – three residents and two staff.
A COVID-19 outbreak at the Nicola Meadows assisted living facility has been declared over with seven total cases – four residents and three staff, with one death connected.
Data from the province shows there are now 86.3 per cent of people over the age of 12 (3,998,779) have gotten one dose of a COVID vaccine, while 78.8 per cent (3,652,033) are fully vaccinated. That is an increase of 6,891 first doses and 7,317 second doses.
Between Sept. 8 and 14, the government says people not fully vaccinated accounted for 76.1 per cent of new COVID cases. Between Sept. 1 and Sept. 14, they accounted for 86.4 per cent of hospitalizations.
