Kamloops RCMP are looking for witnesses after another daytime armed robbery in Lower Sahali this week.
Police say they were called to the 800-block of Columbia Street West around 4:40 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, to a report that a man who walked into a store with a bandana over his face, took out what appeared to be a firearm, and demanded cash, lotto tickets, and energy drinks.
“Officers arrived on scene almost immediately but the culprit fled on a bike into a residential area,” RCMP spokesperson Const. Crystal Evelyn said. “The Police Dog Service Unit attended and was able to track evidence related to the investigation, but the suspect managed to escape.”
The suspect is a white man, standing six-feet tall, with short hair. He was wearing a blue ball cap, a white tank top, a red bandana, dark pants, as well as white and black shoes. At the time, he was carrying a grey and black backpack with a small red logo.
Two days earlier, on June 6, police say another business on the 1200-block of Summit Drive was also robbed by a man with a weapon, who then allegedly changed clothes behind the First Choice Haircutters, before he fled on foot.
Police say a pellet gun was found nearby as well as a green neon hat, a camo jacket, a white sweater, and black pants.
“The time of day that both these robberies occurred is typically when we see lots of pedestrian and vehicle traffic in the community,” Evelyn added. “It is our hope that someone will have seen something that can help identify a suspect.”
At this time police say they don’t know if they two Lower Sahali robberies are related.
