Kamloops RCMP say they responded to three stabbings last night.
At least one of the stabbings may have been related to the Kamloops drug trade, though police say none of the incidents appear to be linked.
The first happened at 8:24 p.m., in the 300 block of Tranquille Road. A 47-year-old Kamloops man was found with minor injuries to his face.
Then at 9:42 p.m., a 31-year-old man went to Royal Inland Hospital after he had been stabbed while on the 400-block of Tranquille Road.
The third incident happened around 1:30 a.m. early this morning, when a 35-year-old man too went to the hospital after he was stabbed at an unknown location.
“I’ve never seen anything like this. It is really unprecedented to see this many stabbings occur in one shift so its really unusual,” said RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jodi Shelkie. “I’m not sure what to chalk it up to but luckily we have the training to deal with this type of thing and the officers available.”
She notes all three stabbings are still under investigation, and the motive is also in all three cases is unclear at this time.
“Every act of violence in our community is aggressively investigated. In each case, the investigation is in it’s infancy and therefore there is little information that can be released,” added RCMP Staff Sgt. Simon Pillay.
“Pandemic or not, RCMP Kamloops remain focused on delivering robust service on our core policing functions. Anyone with information on any of these incidents are encouraged to call the Kamloops RCMP.”
These incidents come after a fatal stabbing on Saturday on Carson Crescent, where a 59-year-old man was killed, and three other men were stabbed as well. Police have called that a “random, isolated and unfortunate event” with no link to the local drug trade.
Also, police are still looking for a suspect after a stabbing on March 24 at the Husky gas station in Sahali.
And William Paul Bolton, 33, is in custody after being charged with attempted murder, following an armed robbery at the U-District Liquor Store in Sahali on March 20 where an employee was slashed with a knife.
